Who we are

Run the Play is a baseball situations trainer for youth teams, at runtheplayapp.com. Questions about this policy go to info@runtheplayapp.com.

What we keep about players

• A name and a sign-in: the name the coach or player typed (usually a first name), a username, and a PIN. The PIN is stored scrambled so nobody, including us, can read it back.
• Their team, and the team’s colors and logo if the coach added them.
• How they’re doing in the app: which plays they ran, their answers and scores, streaks, badges, Play of the Day answers, Speed Rounds and duels, and when they last used the app.
• Game stats, if the coach adds them: a coach can upload their team’s season stats from GameChanger (like batting average or strikeouts) and a jersey number. Teammates can see these on the team page.
• Phone alerts, if the player turns them on: a code from the phone’s browser that lets us send a notification. It doesn’t include a phone number.

What we keep about coaches

A username, a display name, a scrambled PIN, the club and teams they coach, and what they create in the app — challenges, plays, plans, videos and goals.

Who can see it

• Teammates see names, jersey numbers, leaderboards, ranks and game stats for their own team only. They never see another team’s players.
• The team’s coach, and the club admin, see everything about their own players’ use of the app.
• Parents see their own player’s progress through a parent link that the player or coach sends them. It’s read-only, and making a new link switches the old one off.
• A TV link from the coach’s whiteboard shows only the whiteboard, nothing about players, and stops working when the coach closes it.
• The people who run Run the Play can see everything, to keep it working and to answer help requests.

Services we use

• Supabase stores the app’s data, and Vercel serves the website. Both keep it on their own secure servers for us, and use it only to run the app.
• YouTube plays any video a coach shares, through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. It loads only when someone taps to watch.
• Apple, Google or Mozilla deliver phone alerts, if they’re turned on. They see only the alert’s text.

Players under 13

Run the Play is made for youth teams, so many players are under 13. That’s why we ask for so little: no email, no last name, no photo, no contact details. Players are added by their coach, or join with a team code their coach gives out.

We rely on the coach or club that sets up a team to let parents know their players are using it. A parent can see what we have about their player, have it corrected, or have it deleted at any time by emailing info@runtheplayapp.com or by asking the coach. We’ll act on it within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Deleting information

When a coach deletes a player, or a team or club is deleted, everything about that player — scores, answers, stats, alerts and parent links — is deleted with them. You can also email us and we’ll delete it for you. Our database keeps daily backups for 7 days, so a deleted copy is fully gone after that.

On this device

The app remembers who’s signed in, and a few settings like your Play Now choices, in the phone’s own storage. It’s cleared by signing out or clearing the browser. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

If we change what we keep or who can see it, we’ll update this page and the date at the top first.
