Wild Pitch, Runner on 3rd
The call: Wild pitch: the pitcher covers home (catcher to pitcher).
All nine jobs
Tap a player to follow that one job on the field.
Why it matters
The catcher chases the ball to the backstop, so home plate is empty until the pitcher gets there. A pitcher who stands on the mound and watches gives up the run every time. The first baseman follows the play in to back up the flip.
What the runners do
- Runner on 3rd. Breaks for home when the ball gets by. The pitcher covers home and makes the tag.
- Batter. Takes the pitch and stays in the box.
This is the baseball field. In the app a fastpitch softball team sees every play on its own field, with its own rules.
