Double Steal, Runners on 1st and 3rd
The call: Double steal: the second baseman cuts it and throws home (catcher to second baseman to catcher).
All nine jobs
Tap a player to follow that one job on the field.
Why it matters
The runner on 1st is bait: the offense wants a throw to 2nd so the runner on 3rd can score. The second baseman breaks in front of the bag, cuts the throw and fires home. It only works if the third baseman watches the runner and yells the moment that runner breaks.
What the runners do
- Runner on 3rd. Breaks for home on the throw to 2nd. The second baseman cuts it and throws the runner out at home.
- Runner on 1st. Steals 2nd while the defense makes the play at home.
- Batter. Takes the pitch and stays in the box.
