Ground Ball to First, Runner on 1st
The call: Double play: first baseman to shortstop to pitcher.
All nine jobs
Tap a player to follow that one job on the field.
Why it matters
The first baseman fields the ball, so nobody is standing on 1st for the throw back. That bag belongs to the pitcher. The pitcher breaks for it the moment the ball is hit to the right side. A pitcher who stays on the mound to watch turns a double play into one out.
What the runners do
- Runner on 1st (forced). Forced out at 2nd.
- Batter. Out at 1st to complete the double play.
This is the baseball field. In the app a fastpitch softball team sees every play on its own field, with its own rules.
