Single to Center, Runner on 2nd
The call: Single to center field: Throw home through the cutoff (first baseman).
All nine jobs
Tap a player to follow that one job on the field.
Why it matters
The first baseman comes into the middle of the diamond to be the cutoff. Young teams leave that job empty. With the first baseman gone, the second baseman covers 1st. The pitcher does not stand and watch the throw: the pitcher runs behind home plate to back up the catcher.
What the runners do
- Runner on 2nd. Rounds 3rd hard and scores from 2nd on the single.
- Batter. Single: rounds 1st and holds when the ball comes back in.
This is the baseball field. In the app a fastpitch softball team sees every play on its own field, with its own rules.
