Single to Left, Runner on 2nd
The call: Single to left field: Throw home through the cutoff (third baseman).

Why it matters
The runner is trying to score, so the throw goes home through a cutoff. On a ball to left, the third baseman is that cutoff. That leaves 3rd base open unless somebody else takes it. The throw that goes over the cutoff's head lets the batter walk into 2nd.
What the runners do
- Runner on 2nd. Rounds 3rd hard and scores from 2nd on the single.
- Batter. Single: rounds 1st and holds when the ball comes back in.
